Seminar on " Global Financial Crisis and its Impact on India " by CIMS, Hyd.

Cygmax Institute of Management Studies, Hyderabad Campus has conducted a Seminar on “Global Financial Crisis and its Impact on India” on 13th Dec 2008 at Plot No 65, ISFS, Nagarjuna Hills, Hyderabad.

The programme started at 10 A.M with the Welcome Address by Prof. O. R .S. Rao, Director, Cygmax Institute of Management Studies.

This was followed by the Key Note Address by the Chief Guest Mr. M. Gopalakrishna, IAS (Retd), Director, AP Gas Power Corporation.

Presentations were given by prominent speakers on the following topics:

Genesis of the Crisis - Dr. A. V. Vedpuriswar, Director, Learning & Dev., UBS India Service Centre, Hyderabad.

Impact on Indian Manufacturing Industries - Prof. O. R. S. Rao, Director, Cygmax Institute of Management Studies.

Impact on IT IndustryMr.Shakti Sagar, MD, ADP Pvt. Ltd, Hyderabad.

Impact on Indian Stock Markets Mr. Shomesh Kumar, Head- Equity Derivatives, Karvy Stock Broking Ltd.

Steps taken by Government and suggested further steps - Mr. Pranay Kumar, Chief Manager, Cygnus Business Consulting and Research, Hyderabad.

Prof. Venugopala Krishna, Principal , CIMS, Hyd has concluded the morning session, thanked the speakers and summarized the highlights of the session.

Selected seminar papers were published in the form of compendium and distributed to the invited guests.

Prof .K. N. Rao, Assistant Dean, Cygmax Institute of Management Studies has invited the Chancellor, ICFAI University, Tripura and narrated the events of the seminar.

In the afternoon session selected papers were presented by Faculties and Students of CIMS. This was followed by award distribution and valedictory address by Prof. Subhash Sarnikar, Chancellor, ICFAI University , Tripura.

Finally the one day programme was concluded successfully with vote of thanks by Mrs. A. Maheswari, Senior Faculty, CIMS, Hyderabad.

Inter Collegiate Group Discussion (Finals) at Cygmax, Hyderabad.

Cygmax Institute of Management Studies have conducted Competition on Group Discussion ( prefinal ) at the following 6 Degree Colleges:

1. Priyadarshini Degree College
2. Gokul Degree College
3. Sanghi Degree College
4. Dr. Annee Beasent Degree College
5. A.V Degree College
6. Sri Sai Degree College

The following were the topics for the prefinals at all colleges :

"1. Ragging in colleges : should be banned or done in a tolerable limits"
"2. Terrorist attacks in Mumbai : should India deal in a diplomatic way or take help from military"

From all the participants, 33 students were shortlisted and were invited to participate in the final group discussion competition at Cygmax Institute of Management Studies, Hyderabad.

The Final Group Discussion competition was attended by 33 students and the topics were:

1. Education in India compare to foreign countries.
2. Is China a threat to India in the global market ?
3. Is MBA necessary to succeed in life ?
4. Are MNC's superior to Indian companies ?
5. Leaders are born or leaders are made.
6. Using IT is really value to management education.


Judges: Prof. K.N. Rao, Asst. Dean - Cygmax & Prof. Venugopala Krishna, Principal - Cygmax

The winning team was Dr. Annee Beasent Degree Collage and the runner up was Gokul Degree College.

The winning and runner up teams were given sheilds and certificates by Prof ORS Rao, Director - Cygmax & Mr. Sripada Vishwanath, Manager, HDFC Bank. All the participants were given certificate of participation.

Inter Collegiate Debate Competition (Finals) at Cygmax, Hyderabad.

Cygmax Institute of Management Studies have conducted Debate Competitions ( prefinal ) at the following 8 Degree Colleges:

1. S.P.College
2. Gautami College
3. Gokul College
4. Mytheri College
5. Kasturba Gandhi College
6. Noble College
7. St. Mary's College
8. Hindu Degree College

Topic for the prefinals at all colleges was :" OBAMA THE PRESIDENT ELECT OF USA - THE CHALLENGES AHEAD OF HIM"

From all the participants, 39 students were shortlisted and were invited to participate in the final debate competition at Cygmax Institute of Management Studies, Hyderabad.

The final debate competition was attended by 39 students and the topics were:

1. Future of MBA's in the job market.
2. Importance of communication in the 21st Century.
3. Software job scenario in the current & near future.
4. Commuting in public transport in our city.
5. Law & Order situation in our country.


Judges: Prof. K.N. Rao, Asst. Dean - Cygmax & Prof. Venugopala Krishna, Principal - Cygmax

The winner was from Kasturba Gandhi College and the two runners were from St. Mary's college and Gokul College.

The winners and runners were given sheild and certificates by Prof ORS Rao, Director - Cygmax & Mr. Pandu Ranga Rao, Chief Manager, I.V.R.C.L. All the participants were given certificate of participation.

Press release on " Seminar on Global Financial Crisis (13th Dec 2008) " by Cygmax - 4th Dec 2008

Cygmax Institute of Management Studies (CIMS), Hyderabad will be conducting a seminar on “Global Financial Crisis and its Impact on India” on 13th December, 2008 at 10 AM at 63, Nagarjuna Hills, Hyderabad.



The seminar will have 2 sessions – morning and afternoon. Morning session will be addressed by invited speakers from Industry. Afternoon session is reserved for presentations by faculty members & students of Business Schools.

The seminar will dwell on the following 5 Key Themes.

  • Genesis of the crisis

  • Impact on Indian manufacturing industries

  • Impact on Indian Services Industries

  • Impact on Indian Stock Markets

  • Steps taken by Government, so far & suggested further measures

Guidelines for contribution of articles by faculty and students:

1. The article can be maximum 4 pages of A-4 size and one side printed.

2. The paper should be the author’s original work. It should not have been published earlier in any magazine.

3. The paper should accompany with the declaration as per format enclosed Declaration Form

4. The paper will be the property of Cygmax, who will have the right to publish the article in its publications, after editing, if needed.

5. Papers should be sent to seminars@cygmax.org by 6th December 2008.

6. Authors of papers selected for presentation will be informed by 8th December, 2008. Authors of papers selected for presentation will be given an award & a certificate.

7. The presentation should be given in 15 minutes using power point slides (PPTs). LCD projector will be provided. They should e-mail their PPTs to Seminars@cygmax.org by 10th December, 2008.
